Because it’s air cooled, the Hoshizaki F-1002MAJ ice maker uses fans to move fresh air over the self-contained condenser to cool the components. Unlike remote-type condensers, this self-contained unit is inside the ice maker and doesn’t require additional wiring beyond the electrical connection. It cools with R-404A refrigerant and produces chewable flake ice. This unit can make 980 pounds of ice daily when operating conditions are ideal, though when temperatures are higher, it makes closer to 758 pounds per day. It’s protected with H-GUARD Plus® antimicrobial to slow the growth of germs.

The Hoshizaki F-1002MAJ flake ice machine head uses infrared bin control to guide ice into the bin or dispenser—which must be purchased separately. To remove sediment and impurities, it performs a 2-second flush cycle each hour. While the auger and greaseless bearing are made of rust-resistant stainless steel, the exterior is also made of stainless steel for durability.
