Its 3-horsepower motor is gear-driven, meaning it can move through dense ingredients and provide more dependable velocity than belt-driven mixers. To withstand heavy-duty mixing, its steel alloy gears and shafts are heat treated and hardened, and this unit is built with a thermal overload protection mechanism that prevents it from overworking. To streamline operation, operators can modify the agitator and attachment speed controls, set the timer, and recall the last batch’s programmed time with the front-mounted timer.

For preserving floorspace without sacrificing capacity, the Globe SP60 planetary mixer is a cast iron floor model measuring 25¹⁄₄ inches wide by 30¹⁄₂ inches deep by 51¹⁄₂ inches high. Its removable, interlocking stainless steel bowl guard reduces spill risks that could otherwise cause user injury and increase food waste. Operators can raise or lower the bowl using the side-mounted bowl-lift wheel. To secure the unit in place during operation, it’s fitted with nonslip rubber feet, while the stainless steel bowl truck included with this mixer eases transport of the 60-quart bowl between the mixing station and prep area and vice versa.
